Upper Lonsdale offers a different version of North Vancouver living, quieter, greener, and increasingly connected to the mountains.

Set higher on the mountainside, the neighbourhood is known for established residential streets, detached homes and, in many locations, beautiful outlooks toward the city, Burrard Inlet and the surrounding mountains. There are condos and townhomes here too, particularly closer to Lonsdale Avenue, but the overall feeling becomes noticeably more residential as you move uphill.

For people drawn to the North Shore because of the outdoors, location is a big part of the appeal. Trails, parks and forest are close at hand, with easy access toward Grouse Mountain and the broader network of hiking, biking, skiing and year-round recreation that makes North Vancouver such an extraordinary place to live.

And while Upper Lonsdale feels removed from the busier neighbourhoods below, it isn't isolated. Local shops and everyday amenities are scattered through the area, while Central Lonsdale's restaurants, services, recreation and shopping are just downhill. Continue farther south, and you reach Lower Lonsdale, The Shipyards and the SeaBus to downtown Vancouver.

There is a trade-off to living higher on the mountain: walkability changes considerably depending on where you live, and many parts of Upper Lonsdale are more car-dependent than Central or Lower Lonsdale.

But for buyers who would happily exchange some urban energy for quiet streets, more space, beautiful views and easier access to the mountains, Upper Lonsdale can feel like exactly the North Shore life they came looking for.
